Woman attacked overnight while walking home

We're following overnight breaking news out of Pinellas county this morning. 

According to deputies, a 25-year-old female was walking from a friend's house to her home in the High Point area of Clearwater, when she was reportedly knocked to the ground by two males and apparently cut her on the back. Deputies say the incident occurred sometime between midnight and 1:00a.m. this morning.

Reminder: Reclaimed water use in the city of Clearwater

Clearwater, Florida --  The City of Clearwater reminds its utility customers that reclaimed water use is encouraged and is available every day.

There currently are no restrictions to the number of days that Clearwater residents can used reclaimed water. You may see other cities or counties asking their residents to limit their reclaimed water use due to supply and demand issues.

These limits do not apply to reclaimed water in Clearwater.

First a murder and now fires at Clearwater house

Clearwater, Florida - As fire investigators shovel debris out a second story window, the home's owner Rebecca Fenton struggles to put on a brave face.

"Just say goodbye," Fenton says, waving a hand at the charred structure. "It's the end of the chapter."

On Thursday night a fire, initially blamed on an electrical panel, took much of the house. Fenton and the elderly man she cares for escaped just in time.

Mom, daughter injured in watercraft accident

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- A mother and her daughter were rescued Saturday after a watercraft incident in the intracoastal off Sand Key, officials said.

According to preliminary reports, the two were on rented jetskis and apparently collided near a small island east of the Sand Key Bridge.

Marine Units from engine companies 44 and 46 were dispatched to the scene, and brought the two to the U.S. Coast Guard station on Sand Key.

Detention deputy fired for using excessive force on inmate

Pinellas County, Florida -- A Pinellas County Detention Deputy was fired after using excessive force on an inmate and then lying about it. 

On December 23, 2012, Deputy Elizabeth Kretzer was on duty at the Pinellas County Jail. Kretzer addressed an inmate who she believed was trying to collect an extra breakfast tray. After a verbal argument, Kretzer continued to supervise the distribution of meals, at which point the inmate "flipped off" Deputy Kretzer. 

According to reports, Deputy Kretzer challenged the inmate to repeat the gesture, which the inmate did.
