2,000 students expected for Dunedin Blue Jays "Education Day"

Dunedin, FL -- Thanks to a generous grant from the Pinellas County Health Department, Education Day is set for Tuesday, May 17.

The Dunedin Blue Jays are excited to announce that 1,800 students from 10 different Pinellas County schools have already RSVP’d, and more are expected in the coming days.

Last year’s event brought just under 1,000 students to the stadium, and the Blue Jays are thrilled to have nearly doubled that number this year.

In addition to the game, there will be interactive activities set up throughout the concourse to promote healthy living, healthy eating, and good exercise habits.  There will also be mascot and player autograph sessions both before and during the game.

Jury selection continues in Casey Anthony trial

CLEARWATER, Florida (AP) -- Jury selection continues for the murder trial of Casey Anthony.

Twelve jurors have been picked from Pinellas County, including four on Saturday. The case needs 12 jurors and eight alternates to start, but Orange-Osceola Chief Judge Belvin Perry says he'll start swearing in jurors when they reach 15.

Court resumes Monday morning.

Anthony is accused of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008. Anthony has pleaded not guilty and says a babysitter kidnapped the toddler. The trial will be held in Orlando, but jury selection was moved to Clearwater in the hope of seating an unbiased jury. Jurors will be sequestered during the trial that's expected to last six to eight weeks.

Tweet helps bounce would-be juror in Casey Anthony trial

Clearwater, FL (CBSMiami.com) - There are lots of ways prospective jurors can be bounced off a jury panel. In the Clearwater jury selection for the murder trial of Casey Anthony, you can add Twitter to the list.

It's been slow going for attorneys trying to pick a total of 18 jurors and alternates who can fairly decide if Anthony murdered her daughter, Caylee. Now, in an effort to check out stories prospective jurors tell on the stand, attorneys have turned to tweets.

As prospective jurors answered questions Saturday about their background and qualifications to serve, lawyers instantly checked their responses against postings on online media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

It seems to have paid off. Prosecutors successfully challenged the seating of one prospective juror who they said had tweeted after a fender-bender, "Cops in Florida are idiots and completely useless."
