Historic yacht turns heads in Clearwater

Clearwater, Florida - At 116-feet long, Clearwater's newest visitor is hard to miss.

The guest arrived on December 22nd and has been prompting calls and inquiries ever since.

"Daily (we get calls) and we absolutely love it," said William Morris, the city's Marine and Aviation department director.

What people are talking and asking about is a yacht called The Highlander. It is currently docked in the new downtown marina and will remain in the Bay area through the end of March.

"They always want to know how big it is and who owns it and can we come aboard and have a look and generally the answer to that is no," said Craig Cannon, the yacht's captain.

According to Cannon, The Highlander is actually a famous yacht built in 1967 for Malcolm Forbes. He says, over the years, the yacht has hosted kings and queens but, until a few years ago, it was no longer in use. Cannon says that's when Victor Muller purchased the yacht.

Police search for killer of two men, one found dying in a crowd

Clearwater, FL -- After finding a dying man in a crowd of people, then seeing another dying man dropped off at the hospital, police are searching for a killer.

Police generally rush to the scene of a shooting once someone calls 911. But in Clearwater Sunday night, officers heard the shots ring out themselves.

At the corner of LaSalle St. and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave., officers found a crowd gathered around a man dying from gunshot wounds.

Want a job that pays $174,000 a year?!

Tampa, FL -- Tim Cox is taking applications for a few jobs in Florida that pay $174,000 a year -- plus generous benefits.

The jobs? Representatives for Florida’s congressional districts, which Cox wants to fill with citizen-legislators chosen by their peers in each district.

In fact, Cox has a plan to find candidates to run against nearly all House incumbents and eject career politicians.
