Arrest made in fatal bicyclist hit and run crash

Clearwater, Florida -- Deputies say they have made an arrest the overnight fatal hit and run crash involving a bicyclist in Clearwater.

Florida Highway Patrol officials say around 12:42 a.m., 28-year-old Narissa Robinson was heading north in the outside turn lane on U.S. Hwy 19 North approaching the intersection of 298th Avenue N when she was hit by a white 2005 Hyundai 4-door heading north.

The driver of the Hyundai took off leaving Robinson laying in the roadway. After a brief time, she was then run over again by a Mercedes.

Additional arrest made in local human trafficking case

Clearwater, Florida -- The Clearwater Police Department says they have made another arrest in connection with the human trafficking case from Friday, May 10.

Police say Holly Cannarelli is being held on $1 million bond on charges of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering.

Cannarelli, 55, joins Peter Kitt and and Shawn Franklin for their alleged involvement in the sex trafficking of 16 women.

Anyone with a computer or smart phone can "Tweetalong" along with a patrol officer by following the Clearwater Police Department on Twitter @CPDTweetalong.

"We see this as another way to connect, communicate and interact with the community we serve," said Police Chief Anthony Holloway.

Man arrested for unlawful sexual activity with minor

Clearwater, Florida -- A man has been arrested for unlawful sexual relationship with a minor, while living with her family.

Crimes Against Children & Families detectives arrested 25-year-old Hubert Batista for unlawful sexual activity with a minor after an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old girl was reported.

Clearwater Police say between January and March of 2013, the man was staying with the victim's family and had sexual relations with the 16-year-old girl.

Detectives search for information on burglary in Lakeland

Lakeland, Florida -- Polk County Sheriff’s Office detectives are seeking information about an occupied burglary that occurred at a home on Cherry Tree Drive, Lakeland.

The burglary occurred around 1:00 a.m. on March 31.

Witnesses reported that an unknown male and female broke into the home and were discovered by the residents. The two suspects fled from the residence.

$20K bond for teacher accused of abusing special needs students

Clearwater, Florida -- The Skycrest Elementary School teacher accused of child abuse made her first appearance in court Friday.

Melanie Joe Fox is accused of kicking and pulling a girl's hair and hitting her with a book. She's also accused of binding the students hands with tape and rubber bands.

Search is on for pigeon drop scam suspect

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Police are trying to identify a woman who tried to conduct a pigeon drop scam a Walmart in Clearwater on Jan. 8.

Authorities describe a pigeon drop scam as a scheme to defraud a person out of their own money where a suspect will ask the victim to put up a "good faith" sum of money in order to secure a larger sum. The suspect then swaps bag of money from the victim for one with newspaper or something else of no value before leaving the victim.
