Cops: Man tries to steal generator from triathlon event | Crime
Clearwater, Florida -- On Sunday, Clearwater Police arrested a man who allegedly tried to steal a generator from a triathlon event.
Police say a witness confronted 43-year-old Christopher Fusco after they saw him load a 3000-watt Honda Generator being used at the TriRock Triathlon event into the trunk of his car. Fusco tried to tell the witness that it was his, but when he was challenged again, Fusco removed the generator from his trunk and fled the scene.
An officer caught up with Fusco in the 600 block of S. Gulfview Boulevard and tried to pull him over. Instead, Fusco took off at a high rate of speed and tried to run another officer off the road by coming at him head on.
He was finally located on Palm Island N.E. under a dock and taken into custody.
He has been charged with Grand Theft, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing to Elude, Burglary, and Violation of Probation.
