Oldsmar, Florida -- A Clearwater man, recently released from the hospital for injuries he sustained in a fatal crash on Dec. 12, could now face jail time for his role in the crash.
After an investigation into the early morning accident in Oldsmar that killed 54-year-old Robert Raymer, Jr. of Holiday, the FHP has charged Jonathon Bytautas with vehicle homicide.
Investigators say Bytautas was heading north in a BMW on McMullen Booth Road when he ran a red light at the Curlew Road intersection and slammed into the passenger side of Raymer's Chevy pickup truck. After the impact, both cars collided with George Paajanen's Ford pickup and all three ended up in the northeast grass corner of the median.
Paajanen, 60, of Palm Harbor, was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Bytautas, 29, was treated for serious injuries at St. Joseph's Hospital and released on Dec. 23. Authorities are still waiting for the results of a toxicology test.
