City to Break Ground on Second Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant

Clearwater, Florida -- The City of Clearwater will break ground on its second reverse osmosis (RO) water treatment plant on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to join Mayor George N. Cretekos, Public Utilities Director Tracy Mercer, members of the City Council, and engineering, utility, and Southwest Florida Water Management District officials at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant No. 2 at 21133 U.S. Highway 19 N. in Clearwater.

Lights Out for Sea Turtle Nesting Season

Clearwater Beach, Florida -- Coastal residents are being asked to keep ther outdoor lights dim or off during the annual sea turtle nesting season.

The season begins May 1st and runs through the end of October.

"If you live near the beach, make sure you shut off or dim your lights at night," according to Heather Parsons of the city of Clearwater. "This precaution can reduce the amount of artificial light that reaches turtle nests and will help hatchlings reach the water safely."
