Get rid of household hazardous waste | Environment

Pinellas County, Florida-- Household residents in Pinellas County have an opportunity to drop off hazardous waste, unwanted electronics and chemicals this Saturday for free!
"Household electronics and chemicals – such as TVs, cell phones, computers, paints, motor oil, fertilizers and batteries – should never be dumped in the regular trash, drains, storm sewers or on the ground," one county official explains. "These products can be harmful to the environment and to the people handling them if they are not disposed of properly."
Instead of harming the environment, the county can handle the waste for you, and then recycle useful materials found within, such as aluminum, glass and plastic.
Businesses looking to utilize this service should arrange for drop-off and payment by calling:
Creative Recycling for electronics: (813) 621-2319
EQ Florida for chemicals: (813) 319-3400
For more information on mobile collections, what to bring and what not to bring, or the permanent Household Electronics & Chemical Collection Center (HEC3), please contact Pinellas County Solid Waste at (727) 464-7500 or visit www.pinellascounty.org/utilities.
