Missing Clearwater woman found safe | News

Clearwater, Florida -- A Missouri woman reported missing by her family in Clearwater Monday was found safe Tuesday night.

Police said Kathleen Schardt, 60, went to buy gas in her sister's car Monday and failed to return, police said. She was in Tampa at 1:13 a.m. Tuesday, when she asked a Hillsborough County deputy for directions to Clearwater. 

She did not appear to be in any distress at that time and had not yet been reported missing. Police say she is visiting the area, suffers dementia and does not have medication with her.

Tuesday night police said she had driven to Valdosta, returned to her sister's home Clearwater and was safe.
