Pinellas County, Florida -- Pinellas County Schools is holding a number of events over the next several weeks for families interested in magnet, fundamental and career academy programs.

All of the nearly 60 individual programs will also host Discovery Nights in December and January so that families have a chance to talk with program representatives. 

Parents should also mark their calendars for these important dates:

• Now-Jan 17: Schools that offer these programs will host Discovery Nights, to provide more information to parents and students.
• Now-Feb. 15:  Shadowing opportunities for eighth-grade students who are interested in specific application programs. Contact schools to set up opportunities.
• Jan. 9-23: District Application Programs application period.
• Feb. 13-20: To guarantee a seat in a specific program, parents must log on to the Student Reservation system and accept an invitation during this period.

All of these dates are important for parents who are interested in these programs and have children who will enter kindergarten through 10th grade next year.
