Motorcyclist killed in Clearwater crash | News

Clearwater, Florida -- Clearwater Police have released additional information in the fatal motorcycle crash at the intersection of Belcher Road and Drew Street that occurred just before 3:30 Thursday afternoon.

Authorities say the motorcyclist, 50-year-old Derek Diamond, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to reports, Alfred Belanger, 83 of New Port Richey, was driving with passenger Patricia Belanger, 82, along Belcher Rd. when he attempted to turn into the Hess Convenience Store off the 2100 block of Drew St. 

The attempted turn reportedly put Belanger's car in the path of Diamond's motorcycle, causing Diamond to hit the right, front door of the car. 

Officials do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor in this crash.
