Driver killed in fiery crash in Clearwater | News

Clearwater, Florida -- The driver of a Chrysler van was killed Sunday night after crashing into a fence and tree on Lakeview Road.

Clearwater Police say around 9:30 p.m., the van was heading west on Lakeview Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control just west of Prospect Avenue. The van then left the road and hit a fence, power pole guy wires, and a tree. When the van hit the tree, it burst into flames and was consumed by the fire.

Clearwater Fire and Rescue crews responded to the crash site and put out the fire. The driver was found dead inside.

Police say die to the condition of the body, a positive ID has not yet been made. The investigation continues.
