Pet-a-Palooza at Coachman Park Sunday

Clearwater, Fla. -- This Sunday, CBS RADIO Tampa Bay (WSJT-FM, WYUU-FM, WRBQ-FM, WQYK-FM and WQYK-AM) is bringing Pet-A-Palooza back to Coachman Park in Clearwater. The day is filled with pets, food, vendors, interactive booths, live music and more.

Animal Services offers Saturday adoptions

Pinellas County Animal Services’ adoption center will now be open from 9 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of the month starting Feb. 18. The extended hours are part of an effort to increase the number of pets being adopted at the shelter.

Volunteers are also expanding adoption opportunities at local retail pet stores on Saturdays.

On March 3, April 7 and May 5, volunteers will be at Pet Supermarket, 4445 East Bay Drive, Clearwater from 10 a.m. until noon.

Animal Services takes dog training back to the basics

On the first Saturday of every month, Animal Services provides the Learn the Basics of Dog Training Seminar at 10 a.m.

Located at Animal Services, 12450 Ulmerton Road in Largo, this session is conducted by a certified pet dog trainer and member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers. Participants will learn about housetraining, loose-leash walking, and dealing with other challenging behaviors such as chewing and jumping.

"Doggone Reading Fun" program to help youngsters

Clearwater, Fla. - Beginning Jan. 21, and every third Saturday for the months thereafter from noon till 2 p.m., the Clearwater Main Library, 100 N. Osceola Ave., will host an innovative reading program that pairs pooches with children who have difficulty reading aloud in the presence of other people.
