St. Petersburg, Florida -- Saint Petersburg College is the first community college in the state to launch a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC). 

On Wednesday, May 8, launched its free online course, Get Ready for College- Math, the first in a series of self-paced courses aimed at helping incoming students prepare for college. 

The goal of this class is to give potential sudents the help they need to improve their skills in math so that they can do well on the placememnt test or boost their confidence about returning to college.

Clearwater, Florida -- Countryside High School students will plant valuable salt marsh grasses to restore the shoreline of Feather Sound on the morning of Thursday, April 4th.

This hands-on project is part of the Bay Grasses in Classes (BGIC), an award-winning program sponsored by Tampa Bay Watch.

Pinellas County, Florida -- Registration for kindergarten began on March 4. 

The district is urging parents to register their children for the 2012-2014 school year by this date. To register for kindergarten children must:

  • Be 5 years old on or before September 1
  • Be able to show proof of residency
  • Have a Florida Certificate of Immunization
  • Have a physical examination certificate

Charlie Crist will speak at Seminole College

Charlie Crist will speak at Seminole College

Seminole, Florida -- Charlie Crist, former governor of Florida, will be the guest speaker at the upcoming Public Policy Leadership Speaker Series.

The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19. It is sponsored by Seminole College’s Public Policy and Administration Program.

Crist will discuss policy and leadership while serving as an elected official for more than 15 years with students, faculty and staff. The event will be held at the Seminole Campus Conference Center, 9200 113th St. N., Seminole
