CSX railroad construction replaces railway ties

Pinellas County, Florida -- Three CSX railroad crossings in Clearwater will be closed to eastbound and westbound traffic from Wednesday, May 29 to Tuesday, June 4.

The reason for the closure is due to railroad tie replacement and construction. The following CSX railroad intersections will undergo railroad tie replacement and are scheduled to reopen by Wednesday, June 5:

PSTA sets record for riders

Pinellas County, Florida -- The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) has set an all-time record for ridership in the month of April.

Residents have take more rides April 2013 than in any other April in PSTA history.

Agency leaders say there are several reliable factors that can affect ridership such as fuel prices. With those costs dropping recently, they credit job growth and continued record tourism for the new high.

Construction on Belcher Road

Clearwater, Florida -- Friday through Monday, May 10-13, Belcher Road will be closed from Druid Road to Gulf-to-Bay Blvd.

The reason for the closure is construction of drainage connection for Lakeside at Clearwater. The traffic will impact southbound lanes in the area and people should expect delays and congestion.

Suggested detour sis Keene Road or US Hwy 19 North.

Temporary road closure

Clearwater, Florida -- There will be periodic lane and intersection closures Sunday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. along these two roads:

Lakeview Road from the railroad siding to Missouri Avenue
Missouri Avenue from Lakeview Avenue to Belleair Road and south into Largo

The closure will be made so Duke Energy can move oversized transformers in the area. Police will be there to direct traffic.
